Benefits of Multi-Sport in Children
full details (Dropdown)
Participating in multiple sports offers a range of benefits for individuals, particularly children and adolescents. Here are some key advantages:
- Physical Development: Different sports develop different muscle groups and improve overall physical conditioning. This leads to a more well-rounded athletic ability and reduces the risk of overuse injuries common in single-sport athletes.
- Mental and Cognitive Benefits: Engaging in various sports challenges the brain in different ways, improving cognitive functions such as problem-solving, adaptability, and concentration. It also helps in developing strategic thinking and quick decision-making skills.
- Reduced Burnout: Focusing on one sport can lead to mental and physical burnout. Multi-sport participation keeps the experience fresh and enjoyable, reducing the risk of burnout.
- Skill Transfer: Skills learned in one sport can often be transferred to another, enhancing overall athletic performance. For example, agility from soccer can improve performance in basketball, and hand-eye coordination from tennis can be beneficial in baseball.
- Social Development: Playing different sports exposes individuals to diverse social environments and groups of people, fostering teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
- Injury Prevention: Engaging in multiple sports reduces repetitive stress on the same muscles and joints, lowering the likelihood of injuries that are common with repetitive motions in a single sport.
- Greater Enjoyment and Motivation: The variety keeps the athlete motivated and engaged, as they can switch sports based on interest, preventing monotony and maintaining high levels of enthusiasm.
- Better Long-Term Athletic Success: Studies have shown that athletes who specialize later tend to achieve higher levels of success, as early specialization can lead to burnout and injuries. Multi-sport athletes often develop a broader range of skills and a deeper love for sport, contributing to long-term success and participation.
- Enhanced Learning and Adaptability: Exposure to different coaching styles, team dynamics, and competitive situations enhances an athlete's ability to learn and adapt quickly.

We play whatever the weather! It is therefore important to bring a waterproof jacket and sports clothes that can get wet and dirty whilst also keeping them warm. In the event of dangerous weather or ground closure, there is an undercover shelter which we will utilise. Do you walk all the way to / from anderson and st leonards parks?
Yes we do! Did you know that for each year of age a child is is the amount of kilometers they should be able to walk? So if they are 7 years old, they should be able to walk 7km! Regarding safety, we aim to walk along backroads where possible and only use safety crossings provided, ensuring your child's maximum safety. DO we have to do all days of the week or can we pick and choose?
Yes you can pick and choose your days as you wish. Want just Monday morning? No problem. I am on the waitlist, how long before I can get my child on to the program?
When demand is strong which we envisage it to be, then we will open up more groups of children each term. The difficulty in the Neutral Bay area is outdoor space being shared by a lot of other sporting groups, so whilst we would love to have 100 kids each day benefitting from our fun programs, this is not always possible due to these external space and booking limitations. We are working on this though so watch this space. And we will of course notify you as soon as a spot becomes available. What Does a typical day look like?
Example Mondays After School Schedule: Athletics (3:30 PM - 5:00 PM) for 9 - 12 yr olds 3.15 - 3.30PM: Walking bus to locations 3:30 - 3:40 PM: Warm-Up and Dynamic Stretching
Fun Soccer game! Just like when you were a kid out and about everyday, we believe that kids should be exhausted after a day of sitting behind a desk from 9am - 3pm, so if they want to play more, they can! If they don't we encourage homework Late pickup Charge: What happens if I am after 6pm pickup?
A late fee of $20 will be charged to any family whose child has not been collected by 6pm. After 6:15 pm a late fee of $30 will be charged. Does my Child need to be sporty to attend?
In short - No! Whilst it helps if they are sporty and love activity, this program is here to develop kids into enjoying activity and treating it as part of their everyday routine. Sport is fun, which is why it is so big globally, and we think everyone will enjoy something, they just have to give it a go. |
